  Even globetrotters have birthdays

If you are on the route for one year, there will be the day, when you get one year older. You will not know were and how to spend the day. You will just know it, when the day is over.
Concerning my birthday on our tour: It really was a success! On the one hand Thomas contributed in creating a web-side especially for me, on the other hand there were a lot of lovely people who sent me greetings by e-mail. Many, many thanks to everyone!!
Furthermore the life as globetrotter played its own special role for having a perfect birthday. Cultural site seeing in the surroundings of Trujillo (in the north of Peru) was the main activity on that day.
We saw the biggest adobe city in the world, which is named Chán Chan and was build approx. AD 1300 . 60.000 people lived there and it was about 28km² big. Chán Chan was the capital of the Chimú empire. Gigantic adobe (mud) walls with unique carvings and impresive plazas with statues can be seen there.

Between 200 BC and AD 850 the Moche inhabited parts of the northern Peru. They built (among others) the pyramids of Huaca del Sol and Huanca de la Luna. Both pyramids are about 45 meters high and the main walls are covered with colorful paintings. It is clear, that we had to visit them.

Site seeing with 40 degrees permit two beers at the pacific coast. The small fishing village is named Huanchaco and besides surfing, eating or taking a bath you can watch the fishermen in their caballitos (spanish for small horses).

The last thing which was missing for a perfect day was a nice diner in a relaxing atmosphere. At a chinese retaurant we had Langustinos and red wine and everything in our own room - completely undisturbed.
I have to admit: Having birthday as a globetrotter is not that bad! I just have to recommend it!
