VIETNAM
10/22/2010 - 11/16/2010
Our first southeast asian country and we didn't know exactly what to expect. But one thing was obvious: It would not be easy for us.
Just the facts: Every bus-, boat-, or train-ticket that you book with the help of your hotel is a tour, which contains not only the trip,
but also such nice things as a visit of a fish- or honeybee-farm. They don't tell you the itineary of the trip, so you can ask. But that
doesn't help you very much because you cannot even think about all the nice things they plan for you. So there are lots of surprises which
really takes a lot out of you.
Furthermore everything costs about ten times as much as the locals would pay, so you have to bargain a lot. But, bargaining or not: You get
ripped off more than once a day.
The first time on our trip the flights were almost cheaper than the endless trips by bus and also saved much time and nerves. Thats why we
decided to take the plane for the longer stages.
